Concept

In 2008, Juri Artamonov recorded the album Moskauer Fenster. The album presented the most beautiful melodies from Soviet movie classics in a swinging way.

Encouraged by the great success with audiences from ex-Soviet countries as well as with Western swing fans, the plan emerged to create a “western pendant” to this album. This time around, the pieces for the album were not selected by the Russian pianist Juri Artamonov, but by his German double bass player Martin Gehrmann.

Gehrmann chose the most popular Berlin songs, revue successes, street hits of the early 20th century, and movie melodies from the early UFA era in Berlin.

The newly released album is an homage to this epoch of German musical and cultural history.
